Our Value Statement

Openness

We accept all peoples and all opinions, only requiring that biblical principles are not compromised.

Acceptance

Regardless of personality differences, we applaud innovation, seek varying ways of helping each other and enjoy differing perspectives.

Caring

This church will always seek to be aware of the pain of both the individual and the community. It will also seek to give opportunities for expression of joy and celebration.

Relevance

Recognising that the radical life and teachings of Jesus which turned the world of his day upside-down, are to many in this era lost within the religious forms and practices of Christianity, Cafe Church seeks to lay aside all forms of religion and provide a platform where the life and teachings of Jesus can be outworked in the lives of men and women today, without being attached to any of the more traditional forms of worship.

Self-Sacrafice

Cafe Church values those who are discovering God, and we care for their comfort over our own; therefore we will avoid any practices which might make a person who is unfamiliar with church feel awkward or uncomfortable.

Freedom to change

God forgives, and we will seek to offer people the chance to grow; we will not be so fixed in our way of doing things that we limit ourselves. This freedom includes the freedom to fail as well as succeed.

Expectation of God's provision

As a church, our controlling factor will not be our own resources, but rather an awareness that God can meet all our needs, be it personnel, skills, or finance.

Humility

This church will seek to engender an attitude or enabling others to be more successful than ourselves, that the varying ministries not become competitive but rather supportive of each other.

Servant-leadership

Leaders within the church will not ask others to work harder than they themselves are working, so that no-one feels used or abused.

Prayer

A basic concept will be that no problems can be overcome on the practical level until they have been fought and won on a spiritual level; therefore training in prayer will be an ongoing ministry of this church.

Growth

The purpose of church is to provide an apprentice course in adopting the life and work of Jesus and the aim of this church will always be the birth of new churches.

Reverence

Our attitude towards God will always be one of reverence. This will not exclude a joy in His friendship and will not create a disrespect towards our fellow human beings.
